Local Taxes
Delaware County has real estate taxes but no other local taxes. By contrast, business owners in New York City must pay such taxes as general corporation tax, commercial vehicle tax, vehicle storage tax, and a commercial rent tax.
Real Estate Tax
Real property taxes are levied by local municipalities and school districts based on assessment values. Tax abatements on property taxes are available for industrial or commercial expansion.

Highways
Delaware County is served by two major highways: Interstate 88 and New York State Route 17, soon to be upgraded to Interstate 86. These north-south and east-west corridors link the county with easily accessible markets in New York City, Albany and the entire northeast, including Boston, Philadelphia, and Buffalo.
Rail Freight
The Canadian Pacific Rail System serves the western end of Delaware County along a route that parallels Interstate 88 from Albany to Binghamton. The Norfolk Southern Rail System connects the southern end of the county along its rail corridor from Binghamton, NY, to Hoboken, NJ.
Motor Freight
Numerous local and interstate carriers serve the county, including Shearer's Express, Roadway Express, Yellow Freight, ABF Freight, and USF Red Star.
Air Service
Charter and freight service are available from the Sidney Municipal Airport. More diversified passenger service is available at Albany County Airport, Syracuse International Airport,, Binghamton Regional Airport, and Stewart International Airport in Newburgh--all located 1 to 1-1/2 hours from the area. These airports provide direct flights to over 36 cities and major hubs throughout the U.S.
