Located just off Route 28, Fleischmanns has been attracting visitors since the middle of the 19th century. During the 1800's, General Henry Armstrong owned the village land-until an uprising of tenant farmers led to reform and private ownership. The countryside was then known as Griffins Corners, honoring Matthew Griffins, a prominent businessman. Julius Fleischmanns, the yeast magnate, donated a village park and the village was renamed for its benefactor in 1913.
